Aug 24, 2009 - Wendy Richard, who played Miss Brahms, also passed this year, in February 2009. I sitll watch this show most weeks and love it; it's a loss that the actors and actresses are leaving us, but perhaps it gives us something to look forward to in the next life. :-) Some of the cast is still with us, though.

Aug 27, 2009 - I'm sorry to disagree, Georgia, but the pilot was made in colour, but only a monochrome print now survives. The same fate happened to several episodes of Dad's Army and Upstairs Downstairs from the early seventies.

Aug 27, 2009 - Thanks for correcting me. I was just quoting what somebody told me once when I brought this up in conversation. I'll let them know the real reason now!

Oct 21, 2009 - I thought this was the only episode shot in B&W. I did not know about Wendy Richard passing the last I heard she was on Eastenders. This is one of those great British shows that PBS brought to us and it is still on locally I think on Saturdays. Very funny. I always enjoyed their musical numbers. Are You Being Served, Again was not quite as good but still entertaining. Thank you for posting.

Dec 7, 2009 - Are You Being Served? has the perfect cast
dolphin8b Says:
Dec 10, 2009 - This was shot in 625 (576i) PAL colour in 1972, this is a b/w "telerecording" (TR)(Kinescope) or film recording (FR). On the 1st January 2010 a colur restored version will be shown on UK tv. This will NOT be colourisation, but recovery of colour information in the film called chroma dots, which are intererference patterns on the luminance signal from the chroma signal! phew!
dolphin8b Says:
Dec 10, 2009 - Now colour restored. The colour restored version will be show on January 1at 2010 on BBC2. ( this is colour restored NOT colour-ised a la Ted Turner)
bigkellyr Says:
Dec 13, 2009 - Yeah that was a mouthfull. The only thing I recognized was "Kinescope." Thanks for the info.
